Like many other music lovers out there, I guess you’ve always wanted to make your own beats and for once, just be your own DJ. Dubturbo is a beat making program, but the question is, will it work for you? I’ve done research about the software and I might be able to help you find the answer.
What is Dubturbo about?
According to its official website, Dubturbo is a sound editor / beat making software that allows you to create music beats in hip-hop, house, reggae or any other music genre. Now beat making software really isn’t new, but Dubturbo has implemented many features such as a 16 track sequencer with full drag and drop
support for convenient editing. Its sequencer also has thousands of presets, and I was able to use many of them to create my own beats.
Dubturbo also has a 10 pad drum machine, and you can import your own creations as well. According to its developer, Dubturbo also allows for on the fly kit change selection and stereo imaging. There is also a 4 octave keyboard with support for on the fly instrument changing and editing samples.
Benefits of Dubturbo
One of the advantages of the software is that creating and editing beats is much easier compared to other sound editors. Also, the way the controls are laid out is very intuitive, so the learning curve isn’t as steep as in other software.
The fact that it contains thousands of samples (and you can get more if you become a member of VIP Sound Pool) makes it easy for anyone to make new beats. And with drag and drop and on the fly selection support, churning out patterns won’t take that long.
Another reason why Dubturbo is very popular nowadays is you can run the program online or on your computer, providing extra versatility and options.
Of course if all of these were just claims made by Dubturbo’s developer, obviously it wouldn’t be enough, so I had to get the results verified by independent reviews, and here’s what I found.
What People are Saying
Given its popularity, it’s not surprising that many people have
written reviews about it, and most of them are pretty positive. DJ Sean Gallagher said the software is “easy to use” and the interface is “as easy as any computer program”. He also liked the fact that “all you have to do is point, click and drag your way into amazing tunes and beats”.
Another reviewer, DJ Mike P had this to say:
“I opened the software, dropped a bar onto the drum machine…and started mapping out my first pattern. It was THAT easy and soon enough I had a nice crispy (kinda snappy actually) beat rocking out!”
As you can see, these are reviews from professional DJs who not only remark how easy the program is to use, but also that the quality is good enough for the pros. I have also read reviews on other sites and forums commenting on how varied the sound samples are in Dubturbo and how responsive it is.
These reviews are not just from DJs but also from users who are completely new to beat making on computers. What they are all pointing out is that Dubturbo has managed to nice blend user friendliness with power and capabilities.
It’s not all Gold and Glitter
As you can see from some of the reviews above, a lot of people find it easy to make beats with Dubturbo. However, I’d like to point out here that the software isn’t perfect. You can’t directly record your voice into the software for one, but it’s actually possible to work around that. What I did was to record my voice then import it into Dubturbo, so it’s not really a big deal.
The second is that you need at least 900 MB free space for the Mac or Windows. As for the other specs, 1 GB of RAM and Pentium 4 are the minimum. Dubturbo will run on these specs but it’s performance will be better if you have more RAM.
Advice for Buyers
If you’re interested in buying Dubturbo, you can purchase it at their official website on the link I have provided at the end of this review. It’s currently available for $39.95. I’d like to add that it
is best you buy from the official site; you might find the software being sold at a cheaper price elsewhere, but that could be because it’s either pirated or incomplete.
Also, when you buy at the official site, you can get a discount, and as a bonus you will also get both the beginner’s version for Mac and Windows plus their VST suite. If you order the software, it will come with a free training video set so you can learn to use the program step by step. There is also a 60 day no questions asked refund policy.
Last but not the least, you will get two licenses when you order a single copy of Dubturbo, so you can install the software on 2 computers. Both are the same and with no feature limitations or restrictions.
Based on my research, I believe that Dubturbo is a full featured, sound editor that can help you create high quality professional music / rap beats. With all its powerful features, it is easy to use and the bonuses you get make it an attractive package.
The fact that you will get two licenses is like getting two programs for the price of one, add to that the many positive reviews it has been receiving. It’s not just a powerful program but also available at a price that you can afford, so I give it my full recommendation.
